Hospital
Jenny went to a hospital in Richmond for her medical needs in April, when she needed emergency surgery to help clear a blockage in her digestive system. Jenny is so much better now. I took the time to write a letter to the hospital, specifically their ER department who took great care of my wife in her time of need. I was surprised to receive a response a few days ago, and it was a very, very, nice response. I was very pleased – yet another example of how polished the hospital truly is. You can read the letter by clicking this link.
Tired Nick
Jenny is out this evening with friends from work, while I watch the little rascals. I usually have a battle plan in place, and it generally succeeded tonight. I basically tire them out as best I can and then they collapse at bedtime. We went outside (sun-block was activated) – and played, watered the foliage and generally heated them up so they would be exhausted. I gave the twins a bath to further relax, and placed them in bed. It didn’t work. Emily somehow stole Laurens apple juice and the heavens collided – so they got up and played like mad for an hour. Meanwhile Nicholas finds a ‘sword’ and tries to kill everyone, while watching “Over The Hedge” for the 35th time. I tried again at 8pm and the twins collapsed. I left Nick watching Tom & Jerry in a temporary bed in the living room. I was surfing the net, and all was peaceful… too peaceful. I peered around the corner to find Nicholas collapsed also. So my battle plan succeeded after all.

Three Lakes Park
Jenny had to go to her final docs appointment today (in relation to her bowel obstruction) and she has been given a clean bill of health. Congrats Jenny! She is now at 95% and is ready to phase into normal operations.
The kids and I went to a park while Jenny was at the hospital, it was called Three Lakes Park. We were stunned at how great it was! We thought it would be a swing and a broken chair, but it was so much more. There was an aqaurium, a lake with turtles swimming around, and a vast play area full of swings, pirate ships and more. Unfortunatley I only had my camera phone with me, but you can get a good idea of how great this place was. Three Lakes Park is near Richmond International Raceway in North East Richmond.

Our weekend break video
A brief video of the kids chillin’ over the Memorial Day Weekend :) Neither Jenny or myself can quite get over how wonderfully talented and beautiful they all are. I think you will agree, after watching this cute montage.
Nickus Thought of the Day
I helped my Daddy with the grill today, it was a lot of fun. I ate many hot dogs, baked beans, and potato chips. I am quite partial to chips lathered with ketchup, in fact anything goes when it comes to ketchup, including pizza. I recently rediscovered my love for thomas the tank engine, and have been basically spending all weekend playing with toy choo choos. Jumping on baby sisters and crushing them, is also fun.

EmiLou’s Thought of the Day
I would just like to comment that I did indeed pull at Laurens hair, I admit that in this exact period of time of my life – I am feisty and happy. I can’t help it if I see the golden locks of Lola that I must try and rip it out. My weekend fairs well, I like dancing and singing, and I like testing my speed on firm surfaces – I can almost escape my Daddy when playing games. I got a soft play ball for my gift, although I have since abandoned it and moved on in life. I really like trying to steal Mommys Diet Coke – I am so done with Apple Juice, its for babies. I know Diet Coke is bad for me, and I am not allowed it – but it makes me mad. Maybe a sip will suffice.

Lola’s Thought of the Day
Not a bad weekend. My Mommy and Daddy are working on the house today – we’re having a cook out, whatever that means. It was hot yesterday, I got a Dora phone as a present, my parents seem to purchase items for me without any reason, and I am more than happy to accept them. I was with my Grammy too. Today I am hoping my brother will stop jumping on me, and Emy-Lou tried to rip my hair out. I am used to it, but it would be nice if they were less mean to me, I am after all a beautiful girl and only wish peaceful coexistence.

Short and Sweet Spring
As usual it seems spring is far too short and this weekend it will be in the 90s!!! Hot and humid, that is what Virginia summers are like, until Sep/Oct. But the good news is that the mornings, and late evenings are usually OK for at least 10 minutes before you melt away – as opposed to 1 minute during the day… This weekend is Memorial Day, and I have to take Tuesday off for a family matter, so I’ll be off for 4 days. I don’t think we have any specific plans, but I do know we’ll be getting the two additional car seats for my car so we can switch operations to a ‘cheaper to run vehicle’. Gas prices are just too high :( – but other countries are worse so I will not complain too much.
On another note, I am 7 lbs away from an important target. Soon I can claim to have lost 50 lbs !!!! My weight loss program has been a great success, and I am sure I will celebrate by eating up 50 lbs of ice cream, then I will be back to where I started!
