Meet Toad

without comments

Toad has decided to make a life with the Russell’s in their screened in back porch. Toad is a nice Lizard; he is a bit scared of us; but will keep still sometimes – especially when he snuggles nice and safe in his home (a plant we bought) – Toad is a very young Lizard; and two other Lizards hang around too (perhaps Mommy and Daddy) – whatever the case; he is welcome; and I’ve been feeding him steaks when I can.

Water

without comments

I found a website where you can look forr computing odd jobs; programmng; data entry. Looked like a quick easy way to make money.

Well I find a job; animate a glass of water with javascript. I did it; its awesome; I make a proof of concept video; youtube it and im about to bid on the job.

Then I find out I can only bid on projects in the future; not past ones. HOLY CRAP – two hours gone; stuck with a glass of water filling up and down; I’ll add that to my war chest

tsk- I’m thirsty now

I am working on a project that cycles images on the home page of a website; and jQuery has a great plugin for this called.. jQuery cycle; easy to implement and Lotus Domino works with it just fine.

Windows 7.. is great ?!

without comments

Well I have to admit; I am not a big fan of Windows; ever since 2006 when we got out first Mac; and 2 more later – we are in heaven. But a recent Apple surge into darkness; has prompted me to update my Windows PC to Windows 7 – and I have been happily using it for about 3 months now.

Windows 7 really is a great operating system; and I have been enjoying its features. I have my super kick ass LED monitor; and life is great.

Last night however; that changed – after a big project moving 140 GB of pictures and videos of the family to Picasa 3 from iPhoto — something happened; I contracted a Trojan; actually many. Yep, Windows 7 then crashed and burned; and wouldn’t boot up properly. Angry; feelings returned of why I went to Apple in the first place.

However I thought; maybe things have changed.

And; for this instance; they did. I booted up in safe mode; which Win 7 wouldn’t allow me to do; but instead went into a recovery mode insisting that it will fix everything. I’m like ‘yeah right’ – 10 minutes later; Im booted up; and the machine isn’t freezing; the virus is not loading into memory. Holy **** ! I installed AVG Anti Virus (which I should have done in the first place; but Im used to Apple Mac now) – and my machine is as good as new.

So Kudos to you Microsoft; maybe you are becoming the new Apple ?!

Jenny & Davids date in Charlotte

without comments

We’ve had a lovely time decompressing while Jennys Mom is looking after the kids – this is only our 3rd over night stay away from the kids in 7 years.

We arrived early in Charlotte; drove thru downtown; checked out South Park Mall (where we saw the lovely iPad – and our hotel) – we then drove to Northlake Mall to eat some Jack Daniels burgers; and hit the movies watching Inception. That was quite a film; won’t forget that one for a while! – and then drove back for some late night snacks and discussions about ‘Sugar Bears’ a very strange creature they were selling at the mall.

All in all a wonderful date – and looking forward to driving home tomorrow. I’ll be dropped off at work and Jenny will get back with the kids.

This gave us time to rest and recharge – and we enjoyed ourselves a great deal; but miss and love our kids and can’t wait to get back to them.
