David RussellDavid    MacBook Fund

November 20th, 2008

flu_shot_1.jpgI’m at $289.17 for my MacBook fund, 100% of it coming from sales of stuff that has been stuck in our closet for eons. 5 games, all PS3 and an old laptop. Got another old laptop to sell, some more games and other bits and pieces. I would be happy to reach the $500.00 mark, and I think that is more than possible. The new MacBook is very special, and I deserve to have one, because I am very special.

We have also started XMAS shopping for the kids, and I really hope we can do the vast majority of the spending online. I don’t like going out in the crowds, well I don’t like going out at all - and getting it shipped from Amazon is just miles easier. They are doing a new thing this year where they are taking the toys and putting them in stress free packing, everyone knows how impossible it is to open kids toys - and by saving money and the ENVIRONMENT, we are being thrifty and halo like. angelhalo.gif

Jenny RussellJenny    Support for Quantum of Solace

November 20th, 2008

I just have to add to David’s post regarding the Quantum of Solace that Daniel Craig is still the best Bond EVER. This movie was, unfortunately, one long revenge sequence for the death of Vesper. We look forward to Craig’s next portrayal of 007.

November 19th, 2008

Jenny and I recently saw Quantum of Solace, and I for one was really disappointed. Casino Royale was stellar, and as such - as a continuation of the story, I was expecting more of the same. I was sadly met with a Bourne Trilogy repeat with action sequences so fast, it was like riding on a fairground ride. Perhaps I am now just too old to watch such films. To make matters even worse, there was no Star Trek trailer attached to the film!! But did get to see a bootleg copy and HD version later on in the week. Ahh alas, there will always be James Bond, and hopefully the next one will go back to Casino Royale greatness.

David RussellDavid    Flu Shots

November 18th, 2008

flu_shot_1.jpgThis weekend we went to the dreaded doctor to get the flu vaccines for the little ones. We went late Sunday afternoon - it was chaotic in the facility; children dancing around (mostly our kids) - it was hot, and people didn’t want to be there. But it was a controlled chaos, and the staff were doing a good job. Nicholas did his ‘I am here’ dance and attracted attention, Lauren and Emily joined in too. Of course the other kids were silent watching in awe, as well as their parents - as these three happy beings didn’t know what awaited them.

We were called in, and all was well, the nurse described it was merely a ’sniffer’ and if the heavens erupted - Nicholas went ’sure’ and took the medicine without complaint. My heart had to be restarted. Things were different though for the little girls as they screamed and howled at the immense pain of sniffing some ‘magic water’ overcome their sense of well being. As the tears streamed, the 0.5 second sniff of medicine took hold, they grabbed some free stickers (I did too) and we went off. Finished.

However Emily, in her infinite wisdom - reminds us off the terrible events that were this past Sunday. Until next year.

David RussellDavid    Enders Game

November 17th, 2008

enders_game_cover_isbn_0312932081.jpgI purchased a book over the weekend, for the trip over to England - although I doubt Nicholas will allow me to read it :-) - But I have read the first 10 chapters already; it is called Enders Game. It was recommended to me by John at work, and I think it is very good. It is about a young boy who is being tested for the International Fleet. Earth has been ravaged by two wars with an alien race known as the ‘buggers’. Ender is a super genius and is causing quite a stir at school - it is certainly not a kids book, as ears, eyes et al get ripped off many, death and blood - so its all good :-)

Jenny RussellJenny    The Law of Attraction in Action

November 16th, 2008

A week ago, Nicholas was concerned about swallowing his second loose tooth. He was disturbed by the concept of the tooth being in his belly. I did assure him that he would be okay if the tooth went into his belly, but we would no longer have the tooth. This morning, as he was eating his breakfast, he said, “oh darn!”.  I said, “what happened?”. He said ” I lost my tooth!” I said, “Give it to me.” He said, “It is in my belly!” Ask and it is given.

David RussellDavid    7 Days

November 15th, 2008

7 Days from now.. Nicholas and I leave for the mother land - and we are all very excited. I am looking forward to riding on the plane with Nick and playing with the iPod and et al as we swing 3500 miles to the home country. It is there we will be greeted by much love from my mother, sister, John, Malcolm and Pauline. It will be a momentous. We will be flying from Atlanta at roughly 9pm on our 82 hour journey to Ye Olde England.

David RussellDavid    Saturday Fun and Blackberry

November 14th, 2008

Jenny and I have a ‘date’ day planned, specifically geared around the new James Bond film, and more importantly - THE NEW STAR TREK TRAILER - which I can’t wait to see.

I’ve been an avid fan of my Blackberry for quite some time .. (even though it has gotten me into some trouble..) - and a new Blackberry comes out soon - the Blackberry Storm, which features a clickable touchscreen interface. I am NOT a fan of the iPhone, typing is painful, so I can’t wait to see if Blackberry have done a better job with the interface. Too bad its just Verizon, I’m with T-Mobile.
